FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield daycare was evacuated Friday as firefighters battled a nearby brush fire.

Emergency personnel received a report around noon about the blaze in the 200 block of Greenfield Street, according to Assistant Chief Roger Caisse, who said an area resident had called 911 and had also attempted to put out the 30-by-30-foot fire with an extinguisher.

A daycare located about 25 feet from the edge of the blaze was evacuated, but no one was injured and there was no damage to the structure, Caisse said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and was undetermined as of Friday afternoon, according to Caisse.
