Fairfield Fire Chief Denis McCarthy Honored by Board of Selectmen
First Selectman Michael Tetreau and Selectmen Edward Bateson and Christopher Tymniak Recognized Chief McCarthy

Fairfield Fire Chief Denis McCarthy was recently inducted into the 11th Annual Connecticut State Firefighters Association Hall of Fame at a reception earlier in the month. At the regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen on April 24, 2019 in Sullivan Independence Hall, members of the Board of Selectmen honored Fire Chief Denis McCarthy. First Selectman Michael C. Tetreau along with Selectmen Edward J. Bateson and Christopher W. Tymniak took a moment to recognize the chief for his recent statewide accomplishment.
In congratulating Fire Chief McCarthy, First Selectman Michael C. Tetreau stated:
"We want to recognize Chief McCarthy for being honored for what he has accomplished in his career and his impact on public safety. This makes a tremendous statement about the leadership of our town’s Fire Department. It is indicative of the high quality of all the personnel in our Fire Department. Congratulations to the Chief!"

Chief McCarthy was appointed as the Town of Fairfield Chief of Department and Emergency Services Director in 2015. Prior to that, he was the Fire Chief in the City of Norwalk from 2005 to 2015. From 2002 to 2005. he was Fire Chief in Westport, where he started his career in 1978.
Chief McCarthy lives in Fairfield with his wife of 40 years, Barbara.
