Fairfield Fire Chief Denis McCarthy Inducted into CT Hall of Fame
First Selectman Mike Tetreau & State Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey Join Dozens of Fairfielders at Ceremony Honoring Fire Chief Denis McCarthy
Fairfield Fire Chief Denis McCarthy was inducted into the Connecticut State Firefighters Association's Hall of Fame on April 4, 2019 at the Aqua Turf in Southington in a dinner ceremony attended by Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz in front of a crowd of 620.
Fairfield First Selection Michael Tetreau, State Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey and members of the Fairfield Fire Commission including Harry R. Ackley, Sr., Joseph Olzacki and John Brannelly attended the ceremony in support of Chief McCarthy. They were joined by dozens of members of the Fairfield Fire Department.
"As the saying goes, do what you love and you will never have to work a day in your life, and working in Fairfield and working in the fire service here lives up that saying to me," stated Chief McCarthy in accepting the award.

Chief McCarthy was appointed as the Town of Fairfield Chief of Department and Emergency Services Director in 2015. Prior to that, he was the Fire Chief in the City of Norwalk from 2005 to 2015. From 2002 to 2005. he was Fire Chief in Westport, where he started his career in 1978.
Chief McCarthy lives in Fairfield with his wife of 40 years, Barbara. He credited her for much of his success.
