Fairfield Man, 24, Charged With Arson: New Canaan Police

A Fairfield man is accused of intentionally starting a fire at a New Canaan residence over the weekend, according to police.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A Fairfield man accused of intentionally starting a fire at a New Canaan residence was arrested over the weekend, police said.

According to a police report, New Canaan firefighters and police officers received a report of a fire in the bathroom of a Millport Avenue home around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Though the fire was no longer active when police and firefighters arrived, the bathroom walls were covered in black soot from the fire and smoke, police said.

According to police, 24-year old Roscell Carson, a resident of Fairfield and an occupant of the Millport home, is accused of igniting paper towels and placing them into a garbage can in the bathroom.

"It was additionally determined that this was not an accident but an intentional act," police said in the report.

Carson was with second-degree arson, second-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
