Fairfield Museum Closed Until March Due To Coronavirus
The closure came out of "an abundance of caution" amid high coronavirus case counts in and around Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Museum is closed until March due to the coronavirus pandemic, museum leadership announced in an email last week.
The closure came out of “an abundance of caution” and began Jan. 16, according to the email from Executive Director Michael Jehle. The museum is scheduled to reopen March 1.
“We are doing this to proactively ensure the safety of our visitors and staff, and to support the efforts of our local and state authorities to safeguard public health during this challenging time,” Jehle said, noting high numbers of coronavirus cases in the area, but clarifying no one at the museum has tested positive for the virus.

The Fairfield Museum initially closed in mid-March 2020 not long after the virus’s arrival in Connecticut. The museum reopened in June. As of Friday, there were a cumulative total of 3,547 recorded virus cases in Fairfield, up 133 cases compared to a week ago, according to town data.
“Our commitment to providing you with a safe environment for learning has been uniquely challenged during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Jehle said. “We have successfully hosted a series of outdoor and indoor programs and performances over the past few months, including Jazz Fridays, Halloween Tours, and the recent Holiday Express Model Train Show, while keeping our visitors safe.”
