Fairfield Officers Rescue Ailing Beaver
The animal had severe pneumonia but was receiving treatment as of Saturday.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A sick beaver is being treated for pneumonia after Fairfield Animal Control officers made an unexpected rescue last week.
The agency got a call Thursday about an unidentified hairy animal on the beach along Pine Creek, Fairfield Animal Control said Saturday in a Facebook post.
“Two of our officers responded to this strange furry animal call and what they found was a truly rare sight!” the post said. “When they arrived on scene they reported finding a beaver that was acting very sick and was extremely sluggish.”

The officers captured the beaver, brought it to the town shelter and worked with conservation organization Call of the Wild to get in contact with Kensington Bird & Animal Hospital in Berlin.
“Kensington were able to diagnose the beaver with a severe case of pneumonia that is currently being treated,” the post said. “We thank everyone involved in this very out of the ordinary First of April call to help save a beaver!”
