Fairfield Prep To Host Topping-Off Ceremony For New Building

The Barron Center for Arts & Recreation is scheduled to be completed next year.

FAIRFIELD, CT ? Fairfield College Preparatory School will hold a topping-off ceremony Friday morning for its new Barron Center for Arts and Recreation, marking a major milestone in the construction of the 47,627-square-foot facility.

The event is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. at the school?s campus on North Benson Road. Members of the campus community, including the school?s Board of Governors, will gather near the construction site as the final steel beam is set in place. Students, faculty, and staff have signed the beam throughout the week as part of the celebration.

Speakers at the half-hour ceremony are expected to include Fairfield Prep President Christian J. Cashman, Student Government President Quinn Lombardo, and the school?s chaplain, the Rev. Ronald Perry, S.J.

The Barron Center will be the first building on Fairfield Prep?s campus to house a gymnasium dedicated solely to the school. It will include three basketball courts, three batting cages, a competition court for basketball and wrestling, a 4,500-square-foot strength and conditioning center, an erg and cardio room, coaches? meeting rooms, and a locker room to serve all 35 athletic teams. The facility will also include new band spaces with practice rooms and a music technology classroom.

The center is scheduled to open in the fall of 2026.
