Fairfield Prep's Kyle Vaccarella Commits To Auburn Football

The Prep standout senior earned an opportunity to pursue college studies and play for the Auburn Tigers.

Fairfield Prep senior Kyle Vaccarella has received an offer and made a commitment to the Auburn University Football team for the fall of 2021.

Vaccarella had a breakthrough junior season in 2019, rushing for 8 touchdowns, making 77 tackles (19 for a loss) and registering 15 sacks. For his efforts he was named All-SCC Division 1, New Haven Register All State Honorable Mention and won the Father Brissette Defensive Player of the Year.

Following his junior year Vaccarella was named a captain for his senior season. Despite the cancellation of the 2020 CIAC competitive game schedule due to COVID-19, Vaccarella continued to fulfill his captain duties throughout practice and training sessions during the fall season.

In addition to his accomplishments on the football field, Vaccarella also helped the Jesuits Ski team to CISL State Championship runners-up during his sophomore and junior seasons as well as a State Championship during his freshman season. Vaccarella was named First Team All-State his freshman and sophomore seasons and as a junior finished 12th out of 138 skiers during the championship race.

Vaccarella is a Fairfield resident and volunteers at the Thomas Merton Center in Bridgeport and Operation Hope in Fairfield. At both locations, Vaccarella prepares and serves meals, stocks the food pantry and helps shop for food as a part of the Fairfield Prep Christian Service program.
