Editor's Note: The following was submitted by the Fairfield Wildcats.

The Fairfield 8th Grade Wildcats lost to Ridgefield Black on Sunday at home.  The final score was 15-0.

The Tigers scored in the first quarter when their wide receiver caught a long pass in the Wildcats’ end zone.  The extra-point was also successful giving the Tigers an 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Wildcats defensive efforts was led by Wil Parisi, Josh Evans and Kris Gjinaj, who held the Tigers during the second and third quarters.  Gjinaj also had an interception.

Despite strong offensive play by Timmy Jacobi and Lexi Linsemeyer and a strong punt return by Hunter Marson, the Wildcats remained scoreless.
The Tigers repeated their first quarter success in the fourth quarter and posted an additional seven points ending the game with a 15-0 win.

The Wildcats will next take on Weston this Sunday at 3pm on the road.

In the most physical game of the season, the 5-1 Wildcats scored in the second quarter on a David Summers strike to Will Stearns. The acrobatic and speedy Stearns emerged last season as the most dangerous deep threat in the organization and proved big again yesterday.

Summers connected with Jesse Lawson for the two point conversion on a big catch in heavy traffic over the middle to go up 8-0.  The Wildcats threatened twice in the second half led by big carries throughout the frame by rushing leader Brian Howell, but the physical visitors from Wilton kept the game within its reach.

Wilton scored to get close, but the front six of Fairfield, Aidan Kilgallon, Sean Fuller, Justin Coudert, Wyatt Garrity, Michael Eaton and Griffin Forberg, stuffed the two-point attempt in its tracks. James Tozlosky played a solid game for the home team along with Colin Wilson and Jack Howard.

The 7th grade black team next plays host to Westport at Ludlowe HS on Saturday at 10:30am.

6th Grade

Despite a gutsy performance by the defense that kept the game close throughout, the Wildcats lost at home to New Canaan Red 14-0 last Saturday.  The hard hitting linebacker corps of Griffin Gallati, Tristan Breheny, Jason Conklin and Liam Hawley effectively stymied New Canaan's run game and kept it scoreless in the first half.  The secondary excelled as well, with Ryan Lawrence, Sean Nelson and Evan Rose batting down deep throws and coming up to help stuff the run.

The 6th graders are back in action at Ludlowe this Saturday morning at 9 am against Weston.

5th grade

The 5th Grade Wildcats lost a hard fought contest against Wilton on Saturday.  The Wildcats came out strong with two first-half TDs by Lorenzo Cooper – a 73 yard breakaway run in the first quarter and a 6 yard score just before half.  Two second-half scores by Wilton gave them the 21-12 win.  Offensive standouts for Fairfield included running back Jonathan Gladstone and Brendan Howard – with Jack Gremse, Harry Chandler and Ryan McIntosh anchoring a solid Wildcats defense.  The Wildcats next game is Saturday at Westport, 10:30a – PJ Romano Field.

Wildcats would host Ridgefield Orange this week in what would be a defensive match up.
Ridgefield would march down the field to open the first score with a 7-0 Lead in the first quarter. Defense for the Wildcats would rely on Kevin Howard, Adam Pushner, Danny Haidar and William Blumenthal to help reduce the first downs.

Harrison Keith would record his first sack as Casey Woodfine would force one fumble recovered by Jack Reilling to help keep the game close. Ridgefield would still return to score one more time and add 2 making the score 15-0- Wildcats would try one last effort before the close of the half but would give up an interception.

Connor Westerlund and Patrick Covino would split carries to help balance movement with the ball.  Defense would play up for both teams in the second half with the  only score by Jack Reilling.  Reilling would help put the Wildcats on the board with a fake hand off to Keith and keep it for the run. Wildcats would not  convert the extra point keeping the score  15-6.
