Former Fairfield Chief of Staff to Run for Board of Finance
Thomas Bremer announced Thursday that he's running on the Independent ticket.

Former Fairfield Chief of Staff and Independent candidate Thomas Bremer has announced his candidacy Thursday for a seat on the Board of Finance in the upcoming November election.
Bremer served as Chief of Staff under former First Selectman Kenneth Flatto and was replaced last year by Bob Mayer.
“I am deeply gratified and thankful to those Fairfielders who signed my petition and allowed me to be certified as a candidate in the upcoming election," Bremer said. He was able to obtain more than 200 signatures in less than 24 hours, and he filed his petition with the Town Clerk's Office on Wednesday.
Bremer said he brings a unique set of "perspective and skills" to the candidacy, given his background as a former senior corporate executive in a major publicly traded Connecticut corporation, and as someone who has worked in this local government for years.
"I do not support the status quo. Each year voters complain, politicians explain, and our taxes continue to rise. Shoulders shrug and we move on to the next year, the next election, and the next round of tax increases," Bremer said.
"We deserve better. We can do better if we have the political will to make a change."
Bremer believes that running as an Independent means he does not have to answer to "political bosses or administrations."
"My only constituency is the taxpayer. The question is simple. What is in the best interests of Fairfield?" Bremer said.
"I look forward to answering that question differently and upsetting the status quo. Thank you again to my supporters and well-wishers and to all those seniors and commuters who the Town continues to not do enough for.”
