Former Manager Ordered To Repay $200K To Iconic Bar In Fairfield

The man was accused of embezzling nearly $200,000 from the business.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The former manager of the Seagrape Café has been ordered to repay the nearly $200,000 he was accused of embezzling to the iconic café’s owner, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports Robert Manere, who said he used the money to repay his car loan, health insurance, credit cards and loans, is appealing the judge’s ruling. Manere was sued by his former business partner and high school classmate Peter Collins, who owns the Seagrape.

No criminal charges were filed against Manere, who also owned and operated the Swanky Franks hot dog chain for 18 years and currently owns Dogtown in Milford, according to the Post.
