Hot Temps Lead To Early Dismissal Monday For Fairfield Students

FAIRFIELD, CT — With temperatures near 90 degrees expected Monday, Fairfield schools dismissed students early. All students were out of class by 2 p.m., and many schools ended the day before 1 p.m.
Afternoon preschool and on-site elementary aftercare was canceled, but the school district confirmed the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club and the YMCA would pick up their students. Evening events within the district were also set to go on as planned.
The forecast Monday is sunny with a high of 87 degrees and a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cooler temperatures are expected Tuesday, with a high near 80 degrees, but a 60 percent likelihood of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service.
