Hundreds Attend Fairfield Chamber's Health & Fitness Expo

TurtleDove Home Care among 80 Businesses Participating in Expo at Fairfield University RecPlex

The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Town of Fairfield presented the Fairfield Health & Fitness Expo on March 16, 2019 at Fairfield Univerity RecPlex. The 5th annual community wellness event was sponsored by Collins Medical Equipment. The program was organized by a committee of business leaders including Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Beverly Balaz and Bryan Collins.

Hundreds of local residents attended and met over eighty exhibitors who participated this year and distributed information about programs, services and products. Free health screenings were provided by many health professionals including medical screenings by St. Vincent's Medical Center staff. A Shamrock Sprint fun run was held for children and hand-only CPR & AED training was offered. There was a lecture series organized by Susan Brannelly Martin, RN, BSN of Turtledove Home Care. Guest speakers included:

  • Dr. Cathy Brodows of Southport Chiropractic
  • Christina Tamasdan, MD of St. Vincent's Medical Center
  • Dr. Peter Mcallister and Dr. Caryn McAllister of High Quality Home Therapy and New England Institute for Neurology & Headache
  • Scott Thornton, MD of Northeast Medical Group
  • Donna Brown of Nutrition Kitchen
  • Edie Flood of Wings Over Water School of Swimming

Many community members and leaders and participated in this event included State Senator Tony Hwang and State Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey. Businesses offered samplings of their products. Organizations like the Fairfield Police Department had a medication drop box for excess and expired prescription and over-the-counter medication and a local Girl Scouts troop was selling its famous cookies.
