Join Forager Hayden Stebbins For Southport Nature Walk

Hayden Stebbins will host a nature walk on July 29th.

FAIRFIELD, CT - From Pequot Library: Join forager and functional herbalist Hayden Stebbins on a nature walk through scenic Southport and learn to view your landscape in a whole new way. Discover native and commonly introduced species, how to identify plants by family, and their edible, medicinal, or poisonous properties. The walk takes place Sunday, July 29, 2018, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Gather in Pequot Library’s Perkin Gallery to view the exhibition Garden Menagerie, and then enjoy a 45-minute walk around Southport, including stops at the harbor and Reeves Park. Afterward, explore the 58th Annual Book Sale on your return to Pequot Library! Free and all ages welcome. Please wear comfortable shoes. Registration required at publicprograms@pequotlibrary.org.

Stebbins, a native of Fairfield, CT, graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in Science of
Natural and Environmental Systems, and he earned his master’s degree from Schumacher College in England in Sustainable Horticulture and Food Production. He has shadowed ethnobotanist Marc Williams, the director of botanyeveryday.com and Plants and Healers International, taught about edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms up and down the Eastern seaboard, and completed the full-time clinical herbalism program at the Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine in North Carolina.
