Large Limb Falls On Fairfield Vehicle; Thunderstorms In Forecast
Fairfield police encountered two large tree branches Tuesday morning that were blocking Fairfield roads.

FAIRFIELD, CT — After a rainy night, Fairfield officers encountered two large downed tree branches blocking roads Tuesday morning, police said, including one that fell on a vehicle. More rain and possibly thunderstorms are in the forecast for Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Police found the first limb 6:35 a.m. on top of a vehicle on Grace Street, according to Lt. Antonio Granata, who said the pavement sustained most of the impact and the vehicle saw only minor damage. Officers notified the tree warden about the branch.

Then, roughly 30 minutes later, police received a report of another limb across the road, this time in the 2200 block of Cross Highway, Granata said, adding officers moved the branch and contacted public works.
The Bridgeport area had received about three-quarters of an inch of rain as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, which predicted Fairfield could get as much as another inch of rain by late Wednesday. Thunderstorms are also forecast after 11 p.m. Tuesday and throughout Wednesday, the weather service said.

Wednesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. High near 63 degrees. East wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 48 degrees. Northwest wind around 9 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 64 degrees. Northwest wind 11 to 13 mph.
