Large Tree Downs Telephone Poles In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CT — Emergency crews were responding Friday morning to large tree that had fallen and downed several telephone poles, according to police.
Police and firefighters were on the scene about 11 a.m. at Woodside Circle, the police department said in a tweet, adding the United Illuminating Co. had been notified.
"Use caution in the area," the tweet said. "Power outage in the area should be expected until repairs can be made."

As of about 11:45 a.m., only 52 UI customers in Fairfield — or less than 1 percent — were without power, according to the company's outage map.
The town is under a wind advisory until 6 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
