Low-Cost Rabies Vaccination Clinic To Be Held In Fairfield

The clinic for cats and dogs will take place at the Fairfield Animal Shelter.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Animal Control will be hosting a low-cost dog/cat rabies clinic on Saturday, May 11. The clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Fairfield Animal Shelter, located at 211 Richard White Way (formerly One Rod Highway) in Fairfield.

The cost is $20 cash per pet. Any pet owner that displays a state assistance card can receive one free pet vaccination. The clinic is sponsored by the CVMA (Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association).

Pet owners that bring proof of any previous rabies vaccination for their pet (valid or expired) will receive a three-year rabies certificate. All pets being vaccinated for the first time or without previous vaccination history will receive a one-year certificate.

The attending veterinarian will be Dr. John Kristy of the Engelberg Kristy Animal Hospital who has volunteered his services for the low-cost clinics for more than 35 years, according to the animal control.

All dogs should be on leashes and cats inside secure cat carriers.
