Man Charged In Connection With Stolen Fairfield SUV: Police

WESTPORT, CT — A Norwalk man was recently charged after he was stopped by Westport police while driving an SUV stolen from Fairfield, law enforcement said.

Camron Bailey, 22, was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree larceny, according to police.

About 3 a.m. Wednesday, a Westport officer saw a blue Nissan Xterra traveling westbound on Post Road East and identified the vehicle as an SUV stolen the previous week from Fairfield, police said. The officer followed the Nissan while law enforcement set up a perimeter, according to police.

When the vehicle reached the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Bridge Street, law enforcement used “stop sticks” to deflate the SUV’s tires, police said. When the tires were so flat that Bailey was unable to drive the Xterra, he pulled over near Exit 18 of Interstate 95, according to police.

Bailey was taken into custody, police said, adding he was found to be the subject of multiple warrants related to charges out of Norwalk and Greenwich. In addition to larceny, he was charged with four counts of first-degree failure to appear, two counts of second-degree failure to appear and three counts of failure to pay or plead, according to police.

Bailey, who remains in custody, has yet to enter a plea in the Westport case and is set to next appear in court March 26, court records said.
