Man Charged With Forgery After Incident At Fairfield Bank: Police

The man faces felony charges after he brought two counterfeit checks to a Fairfield bank, police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Bridgeport man faces felony charges after he brought two counterfeit checks to a Fairfield bank, according to police.

Harold J. Harding, 28, of Fremont Street, was arrested March 15 and charged with two counts of second-degree forgery, police said.

Harding tried to cash an $850 check at a bank on Black Rock Turnpike, according to police. Law enforcement were called to the scene and discovered Harding had a second check for $820, police said. Investigators contacted the account holder, who confirmed they did not authorize the checks, according to police.

Harding was released on a promise to appear in court and is scheduled to be arraigned June 11, court records said.
