Man Injured, Charged In DUI Crash: Fairfield Police

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Bridgeport man was injured and faces several charges after he drove into a utility pole in Fairfield, according to police.

Francisco Aguilar, 43, turned himself in on April 9 and was charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility and failure to drive in the proper lane, police said.

Officers found the scene of the crash just before 1 a.m. March 15, after Aguilar failed to negotiate a curve on Edward Street, left the road and hit a pole, damaging his vehicle, according to police, who said utility service was not disrupted by the collision.

Officers saw Aguilar running from the scene, chased him on foot and ordered him to stop, which he did, police said. Aguilar suffered abrasions to his arms, hands and face, and was treated on scene and taken to Bridgeport Hospital, according to police.

An investigation revealed Aguilar had a blood alcohol content of 0.19 an hour after the crash, police said. A warrant was issued for his arrest, according to police.

After Aguilar turned himself in, he was released on a promise to appear in court, police said. His arraignment is scheduled for June 15, according to court records.
