Man Sexually Assaulted Child At Fairfield Church Program: Police
The middle school-aged juvenile was exposed to sexual contact with a man while volunteering at a church childcare program, police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Shelton man faces charges after he was accused of sexually assaulting a middle school-aged child at a Fairfield church program, according to police.
Joseph Raquan Thomas, 25, is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to or impairing the morals of a child, which is a felony, according to court records.
The victim and their father came to police March 8 to report that from the ages of 12 to 14, the juvenile had been repeatedly exposed to sexual contact with a man while both the man and the victim were volunteering at a Trinity Baptist Church childcare program, according to police.

After an investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Thomas, who turned himself in May 24, police said.
“Trinity Baptist Church fully cooperated with detectives throughout the investigation,” Lt. Antonio Granata said in an email.

Thomas, who has yet to enter a plea in the case, is free on a promise to appear in court, according to court records. His next court date is set for July 26.
