Man Sexually Assaulted Customer At Fairfield Store: Police

The man "made inappropriate sexual contact" with a customer at Petco, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A man sexually assaulted a customer at Petco in Fairfield over the weekend, police said.

Officers were called at 1:30 p.m. Saturday to the store at 340 Grasmere Ave. about a suspicious person, according to police. An investigation revealed that 28-year-old Tevin Clarke “made inappropriate sexual contact” with the customer, police said.

Clarke approached the person, gave them unwanted compliments, and, when they tried to move away, touched the person in a sexual manner, according to police. Clarke fled the store, but was found by officers minutes later at the Fairfield Metro train station, police said.

Clarke was arrested and charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, public indecency and breach of peace, according to police. He is scheduled to appear in court April 6.
