Man Stopped By Cops Had Machete, Marijuana In Car: Fairfield PD
In addition to the machete, the man also had an over-sized hunting knife in the vehicle, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A man who was driving around Fairfield with marijuana and a machete in his vehicle was stopped by police after a mail carrier called the authorities about the man’s suspicious behavior, according to law enforcement.
Authorities responded about 11 a.m. Nov. 13 to Taunton Road and made a traffic stop after the carrier reported a man tampering with a mailbox, according to police. The driver was Shawn Belounis, a 23-year-old Bridgeport man involved locally in the sale of narcotics, police said.
Law enforcement searched Belounis and his vehicle, and found nearly $600 cash, a large machete, an over-sized hunting knife, marijuana edibles and cartridges, more than 2 ounces of marijuana, and packing material, according to police.

Belounis was arrested and charged with having weapons in a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and possession of more than half an ounce of marijuana, as well as several misdemeanor vehicle charges, police said. He was release on $5,000 bond and is set to appear in court Nov. 30, according to police.
