Corporan tried to make four withdrawals Thursday from an account that was not his, police said. He took out $9,500 at a Chase Bank in Bridgeport before heading to Fairfield and withdrawing $8,500, according to police. Less than an hour later, he tried to take out another $5,500 at the same Fairfield branch, at which point bank employees recognized the potential fraud and stalled the transaction until law enforcement arrived, police said.

A fourth withdrawal attempt that occurred between Corporan’s stops in Bridgeport and Fairfield was being investigated Thursday, according to police.
