FAIRFIELD, CT — The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library are back with their popular, family-friendly Mini-Golf event on Sunday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per family. Advance tickets for families can be purchased online. All ages are welcome, however, participants age 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

“We are thrilled to be the new co-chairs of the Friends’ Mini-Golf event this year,” Bridget Edwards, who is chairing with Rachel Parrish, said in a press release. “Participants are sure to have a wonderful time putting through the Library! We are especially excited about all the local businesses we have partnered with, and can promise attendees some fun experiences with our newly themed golf holes. We are excited to be a part of this memorable town event as it continues to grow.”

The Friends’ Mini-Golf Committee is partnering with B.GOOD Restaurant and Saugatuck Sweets to further raise money for the library. On Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24, B.GOOD will donate 25 percent of sales back to the Friends upon presentation of their flyer and from March 24-30, Saugatuck Sweets will donate 20 percent of sales upon presentation of their flyer.

Their flyers can be picked up at the Circulation Desks at the Main and Fairfield Woods Branch Libraries before the 24th, and will be distributed throughout the day during the event.

“We are hoping to direct our attendees to both these establishments in exchange for their financial support; it’s a win-win situation,” said Danielle Sharp, Director of Development for the Friends. Other restaurants and businesses in town can support the event by becoming hole sponsors along the course, according to the press release.

Established in 2003, The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the partnership between the Fairfield Public Library and the community and advocating for quality library service for all of the people of the town of Fairfield. Over the past 15 years, The Friends have provided over $350,000 to the Library to support special programs, services and resources not included in the operating budget, including a commitment to fund the Library’s museum pass program with $10,000 a year for 10 years.

The Friends sponsor the Fairfield Public Library’s Soundwaves Concert Series, the One Book One Town Program, and manage the Bruce S. Kershner Art Gallery located in the Main Library. They also oversee the ongoing sale of gently used books and CD’s in The Twice REaD Room at the Main Library, and offer a Bookplates as Gifts program which allows people to honor or remember a loved one with a bookplate placed in a new book to be added to the Library’s collection. For the past two years, the Friends have sponsored a Fairfield Food Truck Festival at Jennings Beach in the fall. This event has drawn more than 4,000 attendees each year.
