More Fairfield Residents Receive College & University Honors

FAIRFIELD, CT ? A host of Fairfield residents at various colleges and universities around the country recently received dean's list and other honors from their schools, according to releases from Merit Pages. Patch posted a separate list on Tuesday.

Below is a list of students from Fairfield who have received recognition:

More than 1,600 students were named to the College of the Holy Cross' Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement during the Fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year. The following local students made the list:

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Springfield College Recognizes Dean's List Students for academic excellence for the 2023 Fall Semester.

Ryan Berecz was named to the dean's list. Berecz has a primary major of Exploratory Studies.
Micaela Ditgen-Jaramillo was named to the dean's list. Ditgen-Jaramillo has a primary major of Health Sci / Pre-OT.
Matthew Robinson was named to the dean's list. Robinson has a primary major of Criminal Justice.

The criteria for selection to the Dean's List are as follows: The student must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded coursework for the term, exclusive of "P" grades. The student must not have any incompletes or missing grades in the designated term. The student must have a minimum semester grade average of 3.500 for the term.

More than 3,000 undergraduate students at Coastal Carolina University were named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2023 semester. Students who make the Dean's List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher (3.25 for freshmen) for the semester.

More than 1,300 students were named to the President's List at Coastal Carolina University for the Fall 2023 semester, including Ryanne Forrest. Students who made the President's List have achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the semester.

Sean Zimmerman was among the more than 7,900 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa named to the dean's list for the 2023 fall semester.

Zimmerman is an undergraduate - fourth year student in Iowa's Tippie College of Business and is majoring in Marketing.

Dean's list status was earned by 1,810 first year undergraduates during the 2023 fall semester at Iowa, 1,773 second year students, 1,940 third year students, and 2,458 fourth year students.
Guidelines for inclusion on the list are:

• Degree seeking undergraduate students in the Carver College of Medicine, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Education, the College of Engineering, the College of Public Health, the Tippie College of Business, and University College who achieve a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher on 12 semester hours or more of UI graded coursework during a given semester or summer session and who have no semester hours of "I" (incomplete) or "O" (no grade reported) during the same semester are recognized by inclusion on the dean's list for that semester
• Undergraduate students in the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine may qualify for the dean's list with fewer than 12 semester hours of graded credit, if deemed appropriate by the college
• College of Nursing students participating in clinical courses who have a total of 12 semester hours of earned credit, with eight semester hours of graded credit with a GPA of 3.50 or higher

Please note that courses graded with a pass/nonpass system are not included in grade-point average calculations or graded semester hour totals, potentially impacting eligibility for the dean's list.

Local residents were among more than 1,600 students named to The University of Scranton's Dean's List for the 2023 fall semester. The Dean's List recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester to make the Dean's List. The list includes students from the Jesuit university's College of Arts and Sciences, Kania School of Management and Panuska College of Professional Studies.

Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its Dean's List for the fall 2023 semester, in which more than 1,300 students were recognized for maintaining high GPAs.

Among the students are:

The Fall 2023 Dean's List at Lasell University includes students who have completed at least 12 credits as a full-time student in that semester and have achieved a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.
