FAIRFIELD, CT — Kennedy’s Barber Club first opened in downtown Fairfield in March 2020.

“We got three days of glory,” owner Rob Craft said, before a state order brought on by the coronavirus pandemic forced the business to close.

Nearly a year later, after reopening June 1, the barbershop and spa has carved out a place in the community with its family friendly events and membership offerings.

“Fairfield is a very small business-oriented town that likes to help support its small businesses,” Craft said.

Kennedy’s aims to create a “personalized vacation of relaxation,” where clients can practice self-care during a stressful and isolating time, according to Craft. In addition to haircuts and straight-razor shaves, the business also provides facials, masks, massage chairs, infrared saunas, sensory deprivation tanks and a thermal cocoon pod.

The Fairfield barbershop is the first of 14 Kennedy’s locations across Connecticut, New Jersey and Florida to offer services for women, such as blowouts, a move that Craft called "an absolute home run."

The business is in the heart of downtown Fairfield at 1330 Post Road, a storefront formerly occupied by Beach Bum Tanning and that has since undergone a build out.

“Everything is absolutely brand new,” Craft said.

In addition to walk-in service, the barbershop offers monthly memberships, such as $125 for unlimited haircuts and shaves for men or $150 for unlimited shampoos and blowouts for women.

Kennedy’s also hosts events for families, including Cars & Cuts, a partnership with Black Horse Garage in Bridgeport, which brings its classic cars to the barbershop’s parking lot. Children can look at the vintage vehicles and parents can get haircuts. The first Cars & Cuts event was in January, and another is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 27. Anyone interested in bringing their own classic or exotic car is asked to email gianna@blackhorsegarage.com in advance.
