FAIRFIELD, CT — A Norwalk man was recently arrested on charges of identity theft and fraud after he illegally used a woman’s credit card to pay for nearly $5,000 in car repair expenses at a Fairfield business, according to police.

Randy Graterol, 32, was arrested March 17 on a warrant for third-degree identity theft — a felony — and illegal use of a payment card, Fairfield police said.

The charges stemmed from a September 2019 investigation, which began when a Michigan woman called a Fairfield car dealership because she had been notified by her bank about suspicious activity on the card, according to police. Graterol had used the card to pay for $4,689 worth of vehicle repairs, police said, noting he has since made restitution.
