Obituary: Dorothy "Dottie" M. (Bansak) Nagy, 90, of Fairfield

Dottie worked part-time as a bookkeeper. She cherished spending quality time her family, bowling, gardening and caring for her cats.

FAIRFIELD, CT - (From Shaughnessy Banks Funeral Home) Dorothy M. (Bansak) Nagy, 90, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2021, with her son and daughter at her bedside.

She was born in Bridgeport to the late Joseph and Julia (Olenick) Bansak and was a lifelong Fairfield resident.

Dottie worked part-time as a bookkeeper for a few local businesses where her work was greatly appreciated.

She placed great importance on cooking delicious, healthy meals for her family. Dottie was a selfless and genuine person who was loved by all who met her.

She loved sunny days at Southport Beach with her family, bowling, gardening and cats, taking in many needy ones over the years.

Dottie is survived by two devoted children, Kim and Mark Nagy of Bridgeport; and her brother and his wife, William and Betty Bansak and their daughter, Cindy, of Las Vegas.

She was predeceased in 2018 by her husband, Ernest E. Nagy.

Her family is grateful to Dottie’s long-term live-in caregivers, especially Gulya and Marina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery in Easton.

Friends may greet her family on June 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd., in Fairfield Center.

Donations may be made in Dottie’s memory to the Stratford Cat Project, 85 Champion Terrace, Stratford, CT 06615 or to a charity of one’s choice.
