Obituary: Howard 'Doc' Hochman, 90

Hochman was the Beardsley Zoo veterinarian for 50 years. He also owned Brookside Veterinary Hospital in Bridgeport.

Howard “Doc” Hochman, 90 years old, of Stonington, passed away on April 9, 2021, in Bridgeport. Born in New York City, son of the late Molly and Irving Hochman.

Howard was the Beardsley Zoo veterinarian for 50 years. He was also the owner of Brookside Veterinary Hospital in Bridgeport, and Bird and Exotic Clinic in Norwalk. He served in the U.S. Army. He was the fleet surgeon at Westerly Yacht Club. He was the president of Agudas Achim synagogue. He loved to be with his children, grandchildren and wife of 55 years. He was an amazing man and loved by all.

Howard is survived by his beloved wife, Pat Hochman of Stonington; his children Dr. David Hochman of Milford, Dr. Daniel Hochman of South Salem, New York, and Samantha and William DiCicco of Milford; his grandchildren Jessica Hochman, Jacob Hochman, Brandon DiCicco, Zackary Hochman, Jack DiCicco, Isaac Hochman and Eden Hochman; and his nephew Andrew Rappaport.

He was predeceased by his sister Selma Rappaport.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private service will be held at Loyalty Cemetery in Fairfield.
