Old Post Road To Close For Crash Investigation

The busy Fairfield road will not be accessible to drivers for part of Tuesday while police reconstruct a crash that caused serious injuries.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A busy Fairfield road will be closed Tuesday during rush hour while police continue to investigate a recent crash in which a pedestrian was seriously injured.

Old Post Road will be not be accessible to drivers from 5 to 7 p.m. between Beach and Penfield roads, according to a police department news release. Drivers will be able to get to Town Hall via Beach Road during the closure.

Old Post Road is being closed to allow for an accident reconstruction after a 56-year-old Fairfield man who was traveling west in a BMW SUV struck a 65-year-old Bridgeport woman who was in a crosswalk, according to police.

The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. Friday, police said. The woman remains in the intensive care unit at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, according to police, who said the driver is cooperating with law enforcement.
