Parking Ban Announced In Fairfield, Town Hall Closing Early
As snow blankets the area, Fairfield officials announced new closures and restrictions.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Town Hall is closing early and parking restrictions are set to go into effect Thursday evening as snow blankets the area.
"Due to the forecast snowfall, a snow emergency is declared for the evacuation routes in the beach area," an email alert from the town said.
Parking restrictions will go into effect 6 p.m. Thursday for the following roads: Reef, Fairfield Beach, Rowland, Penfield and Beach. Parking will be prohibited on the listed streets until the Department of Public Works completes snow removal. Veterans Park and Penfield Pavilion are available for overnight parking.

Also on Thursday, Town Hall was preparing to close early, at 3 p.m., although the assessor's office was set to remain open until 4:30 p.m., according to a tweet from First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick. Fairfield schools had previously announced plans for an early dismissal.
The area is expected to get up to 6 inches of snow accumulation Thursday, with another inch possible Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
