FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield police are investigating a possible scam involving a rental property in town, according to law enforcement.

The police department recently received two complaints involving the property on Euclid Avenue, law enforcement said. A man who was promoting the rental opportunity at bodegas in Bridgeport showed two separate families the home and took deposits of over $1,000 from each of the prospective tenants, according to police. The families found out about the dual rental but have been unable to make contact with the man, police said.

The man was described as about 6 feet tall, average build, with short brown hair that is balding, and a tan complexion, according to police. He identified himself as Daniel Ortega, but the name may be an alias, according to police, who said the man drives a silver sedan, possibly a Nissan.
