Woman Charged After Crashing Into Police Cruiser: Fairfield PD
The force of the crash sent the Milford woman's SUV across two traffic lanes, police said. She is charged with driving under the influence.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Milford woman is accused of crashing into a police cruiser in Fairfield, according to law enforcement.
The incident happened just after 5 p.m. Thursday, when a traffic officer was conducting speed enforcement on Post Road near River Street. The officer had stopped a vehicle for going too fast and was standing outside his cruiser, when the cruiser was hit from behind by a 2010 Ford Edge, according to a police department news release. The force of the collision sent the Edge, driven by Sharon Elizabeth Lipp, across two traffic lanes before it came to rest, police said.
Lipp, 58, of Milford Hunt Lane, was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for general pain, and later arrested and charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right, distracted driving, and failure to slow down or move over, according to police. She was released on a promise to appear Sept. 15 in court, police said.
