FAIRFIELD, CT — Mill Hill School has resumed normal activities Tuesday after police found no evidence that anyone had fired a weapon following a report of gunshots in the area, according to officials.

Officers responded around noon to RegalCare at Southport after employees at the rehabilitation center heard what they believed to be gunfire, according to Lt. Antonio Granata, who said police saw no obvious source for the noise and began looking for a nearby hunter or construction.

Law enforcement wrapped up their investigation after about an hour, but were unable to confirm what it was that the RegalCare employees heard, although Granata said it could have been fireworks or construction.
