Road To Close For Fairfield Fire Captain's Funeral Services
Numerous vehicles are expected to participate in the funeral procession for Capt. Harry Ackley, including a number of emergency vehicles.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A road will be closed Saturday in town during the funeral services for retired Fairfield Fire Department Capt. Harry Ackley, according to police.
Brookside Drive will not be accessible between 11 a.m. and about 1 p.m. from Burr Street to Galloping Hill Road. Funeral services will comply with crowd size restrictions, however, numerous vehicles are expected to participate in the procession, including a number of emergency vehicles.
"The Town of Fairfield salutes Captain Ackley for his service to our nation as a US Navy Veteran, for his 36 years of service with the Fairfield Fire Department and for his continued service to the Town of Fairfield in so many forms," police said in a Facebook post.

Ackley was a Fairfield town constable, justice of the peace, Fairfield special police officer and was elected to the Representative Town Meeting for five terms. He was appointed to the Fairfield Fire Commission in November 2017 and was serving a one-year term as chairman that began in December 2019.
