Severe Thunderstorms Forecast Tuesday Night In Fairfield

The storms may be severe, bringing heavy rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Severe thunderstorms may blow through Fairfield on Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Fairfield is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. Tuesday, as well as a heat advisory through 8 p.m. Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 10 p.m. Tuesday, some of which may be severe, bringing heavy rainfall, the weather service reported.

The possible storms are forecast to be followed by fog, and potentially more showers and thunderstorms Wednesday, plus heat index values of up to 96 degrees, according to the weather service. Additional rain and thunderstorms are anticipated through Friday.

Tuesday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 10 p.m. Some storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog after 3 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 70 degrees. Southwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 90 degrees. Heat index values as high as 96 degrees. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

Wednesday night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 82 degrees. East wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., then rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 8 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 68 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Friday: Rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 80 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
