Sherman Green Concert Series Returns To Fairfield
Hundreds turned out Sunday to enjoy live music in downtown Fairfield.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Warm weather and tradition returned to town on Sunday with the kickoff of the Sherman Green Concert Series.
“We’ve got some great concerts this season,” said Ginna Paules, program coordinator with the Parks and Recreation Department. “We’re so excited.”
A couple hundred people came out for the first show, spreading blankets and setting up lawn chairs.

“I look forward to it every year,” said Margaret Cole of Fairfield. “I like the fact that I can get out and it’s a really nice area, with flowers.”
Cole also appreciates that it’s in the center of downtown, enabling people to pop over for a bite or a drink at one of many restaurants or stores.

“And it’s all different kinds of music,” she said. “Which is nice — a lot of good music.”
Jim Royle Drum Studio, based in Trumbull, is the traditional kick-off band, featuring about 40 young performers on steel drums.
“It’s an annual event for our studio,” said Royle, noting that this was their first live performance in over a year.
He praised the venue and the people.
“It’s a beautiful setting and a beautiful community event,” he said.
