Shop & Stroll Event To Spotlight Downtown Fairfield Businesses

Coinciding with Earth Day, participating shops in downtown Fairfield will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a variety of spring promotions.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield's Shop, Stroll and Love Local this Spring event is set for Thursday, and is being hosted by the town of Fairfield and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Sustainable Fairfield Task Force and Fairfield Moms.

“The annual Shop & Stroll is a great opportunity to celebrate the arrival of spring, support our local businesses and enjoy some shopping with family and friends,” First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick said in a town news release.

Coinciding with Earth Day, participating shops in downtown Fairfield will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., offering patrons an opportunity to browse and shop a variety of spring promotions.

“The Sustainable Fairfield Task Force believes that buying local is essential to creating a thriving community," Bob Wall, chair of the town’s volunteer Sustainable Fairfield Task Force, said in the news release. "We are proud to support this event and look forward to discussing the many ways we all can help make Fairfield more sustainable."

The first 100 shoppers to visit the Experience Fairfield tent on Sherman Green after 5 p.m. will receive a complimentary shopping bag with goodies inside. Coronavirus safety protocols will be in place, with masks and social distancing required. Weary shoppers can swing by Sherman Green to experience the fireside lounge and relaxation station, complete with portable fire pits and Adirondack chairs, courtesy of Outdoor Design & Living.

Fairfield Moms are again partnering with local restaurants to create a festive night out experience. The Chelsea, 12 Unquowa Place, will be offering 15 percent off to all shoppers. Cap off the evening at The Sinclair, 1229 Post Road, for additional drink and appetizer specials. Bodega Taco Bar, 1700 Post Road, will be offering signature house Margaritas for $6 during the evening.

“The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce is happy to be partnering with the town on this event as it provides our merchants another opportunity to open their doors to the community, meet new customers from surrounding towns and provide a wonderful shopping experience,” said Beverly Balaz, president of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, in the news release.
