Sommelier Brings Wine Expertise To Fairfield With New Business

Fairfield resident Joel Lall brings his decades of experience in the wine industry to town with his new business, In Higher Spirits.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield officials will welcome new business In Higher Spirits to town Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The event will be officiated by First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick, according to a news release from the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. The ribb0n-cutting was originally scheduled for 3:30 p.m., but was later pushed to 4 p.m. The public is also invited for wine tastings 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday and Saturday — including the day of the ribbon-cutting — at the store, 525 Tunxis Hill Road.

“Fairfield is a great family community," Owner Joel Lall, who is a sommelier, said in the news release. "My wife, Kristin, and I moved here from Stamford, to start a family. Our kids go to McKinley Elementary School, and we live remarkably close by. When the opportunity presented itself, we could not pass it up. We are a neighborhood business and are proud to serve our community.”

Lall brings a high level of expertise to his customers, the news release said, and is able to advise shoppers on proper wine selections, based on their needs and price points.

"For over 23 years, and after working for one of the largest wine and spirit distributor(s) for the past 17-plus years, we decided to share that knowledge and passion with the community we love and are a part of," Lall said in the news release. "I have conducted numerous wine dinners, wine seminars and wine education classes for all types of restaurants, and now we can bring that experience to you. Soon we will conduct wine education and food pairing classes.”
