Storm Blocks Roads, Knocks Out Power For Thousands In Fairfield
About 5,000 Fairfielders were without power Sunday night, but most saw electricity restored by the early morning hours Monday.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A storm blocked roads and left many Fairfield residents in the dark Sunday night, according to police.
The 700 block of Redding Road and the 400 block of Mill Hill Terrace were impassable as of about 10:30 p.m., as were Sky Top Drive and Crest Terrace, Fairfield police said in a Facebook post. The roads remained closed Monday morning, but by the afternoon, they had reopened, according to police.
About 5,000 Fairfielders were without power due to the storm around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, according to police. By 3:30 a.m. Monday, electricity had been restored to all but 363 United Illuminating Co. customers in Fairfield, or 1.49 percent, according to the company outage map.

Across Connecticut, more than 38,000 people lost power late Sunday.
The storm was moving east at 55 mph about 9:45 p.m., Fairfield police said. Fairfield County saw two tornado warnings Sunday: One that lasted until 9 p.m. in Greenwich and the Interstate 95 corridor, and a second for the Danbury area that was in place until 9:15 p.m.

On Monday in Fairfield, the National Weather Service predicted a dry and sunny day, with a high near 54 degrees.
