Suspect Arrested On Forgery And Larceny Charges In Fairfield: Police

The suspect, a Bridgeport woman, is accused of cashing a forged check, according to Fairfield Police.

FAIRFIELD, CT ? A 30-year-old Bridgeport woman was arrested last week by Fairfield police on a warrant charging her with second-degree forgery and fifth-degree larceny in connection with a forged check cashing case, Patch has learned.

Nuesha Shipman was taken into custody on March 11, and was released after posting a $5,000 bond, according to Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington.

The case dates back to October 2024, after an unnamed local business owner reported to police that an employee had misplaced a check that was later cashed for a different amount.

"The original check, issued for $121.12, had been fraudulently changed to $912.12," Wellington told Patch. "Upon discovering the discrepancy, the complainant notified their bank, which initiated a fraud investigation."

Detectives worked with the bank, and Shipman was developed as the suspect. She is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Thursday.
