Truck Fire Forces Road Closure At Busy Fairfield Intersection
The driver, who was uninjured, had experienced mechanical issues with the truck and was en route to a service station when the fire started.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A vehicle fire slowed traffic mid-afternoon Monday in Fairfield.
Firefighters were called about 2:30 p.m. to the intersection of South Benson and Post roads, where the engine and cabin of a dump truck were fully engulfed in flames, according to Deputy Chief Kyran Dunn.
The driver had experienced mechanical issues and was en route to a service station when the fire occurred, Dunn said, adding the driver escaped without injuries.

South Benson Road was briefly closed while firefighters extinguished the blaze, and Post Road was reduced to a single lane, according to Dunn. Police directed traffic at the busy intersection during the fire department's response.
