Upcoming First Selectman's Special Election In Fairfield Prompts Change In Public School Schedule
Voters in Fairfield will cast ballots in February to choose a First Selectman.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Public schools in Fairfield will be closed on Feb. 3, 2026, to allow for schools to be used for voting purposes in the First Selectman's special election, school officials announced.
The closure means the school district has to make up a day on the calendar, so to accommodate the change, the school system will make the following changes:
- Tuesday, January 13 will now be a full day of school (previously a half day).
- Tuesday, May 12 will also be a full day of school (previously a half day).
"Please note that, unless there are weather-related closures, the last day of school will remain Thursday, June 11," officials said in a statement.
