Upcoming Kids Programs Announced by Wakeman Boys & Girls Club

Arts, STEM, sports, vacation days and After School Program among many November opportunities for kids and teens at the Southport Clubhouse!

Wakeman Boys & Girls Club’s Southport Clubhouse announces upcoming November programs. All boys and girls are welcome, regardless of town of residence. The Club offers a variety of programs focused on fitness, arts, education, STEM and more. A daily After School Program is available to 3rd-8th graders, basketball leagues for 3rd-12th graders, Open Gym hours for evenings, weekends and days off from school, as well as birthday parties.

3rd-8th graders participating in a structured class can ride the bus for free from Fairfield public schools on their class day! Membership is required to participate in any program. Membership for 2019-20 program year is $35 for 1st-2nd graders, $140 for 3rd-8th graders, $120 for 9th-12th graders. Financial aid is available.

PEE WEE BASKETBALL LEAGUE GRADES 3-5 $105
Only a few days left to register for this favorite league focused on skill development, skill enhancement and fun! Teams are coached by volunteer coaches who have successfully completed Wakeman Boys & Girls Club’s Coaches Certification Course. Each team practices one hour weekly starting November 18, with a 9 game weekend schedule.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM GRADES 3-8 $12 weekly paid monthly or 5 Visit Package ($60)
From 3:00-5:30 daily, members can choose among homework help, computer lab, game room, gyms and field, as well as just hanging out and joining in frequent free hands on activities related to STEM, creative arts, sports and more unpredictable FUN! The After School Program (ASP) includes extended early hours on Fairfield Public Schools Early Dismissal Days. The ASP fee is just $12 weekly, payable monthly. Members register for a 5 Visit Package ($60), entire school year or one season at a time (fall, winter or spring). Free bus transportation is available from all public Fairfield elementary schools and middle schools. After School Program registration is required of all members who use the Club weekdays before 5:30pm. ASP participants are welcome to stay at Club any day beyond 5:30pm without reservation.

GUYS NIGHT OUT GRADES 3-5 $25
A night out with the guys is just what this program calls for. During this event, Keystoners will entertain members in gym games, relay races, tournaments and more!! This event will be held on Monday, November 4th from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Dinner will be served.

MOLDABLE MADNESS GRADES 3-5 $65
Come join this innovative art program where all of your projects will literally pop off of the page. During each week of class members will use a different medium to sculpt in order to create a 3-Dimensional project. Members will be able to gain experience sculpting, molding, carving and fashioning a variety of materials. Classes will be held from 4:15pm-5:30pm on Thursdays, November 14th-December 19th (no class November 28th).

LEGO ROBOTICS GRADES 3-5 $65
This NEW program will introduce younger members to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. Create robots, develop a simple motor, and work on coding programs. Classes meets 4:15pm-5:30pm on November 6th-December 11th.

CHEFS & CANVAS GRADES 3-5 & 6-8 $25/class
During these one day events, members will not only create a theme inspired canvas to take home, but they will also create special appetizers to take nibble on during class. Painters can expect to take home one canvas and leave the crumbs behind. 3rd-5th graders: Tuesday, November 5th from 4:15-6:15pm. 6th-8th graders: Wednesday, December 18 from 4:15-6:15pm.

THE IMPOSSIBLE COOKING SERIES GRADES 6-8 $45
For 3 classes, chefs will select a bag of mystery themed ingredients and cooking assignments that they will have to complete with the help of their peers. Classes will meet on Fridays, November 1st-15th from 4:00pm-5:30pm. The clock starts…NOW!!!

TOUGH GIRL Grades 3-5 Girls Only $65
Join our fitness program designed for girls in grades 3-5. The first 30 minutes of each session covers strategies to improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, including nutrition, peer pressure, body image, exercise and athletics. Activities will include Yoga, Zumba, Group Fitness Routines and Healthy Lifestyle Strategies. Program Dates: Wednesdays, November 6th - December 18th from 3:45-5:00

SCHOOL’S OUT PROGRAM Grades 1-5 $65/full day, $35 half day
Join us November 5 (Election Day) and November 11 (Veterans Day) on your day off from school for games, competitions, sports arts and crafts and other activities wrapped into one big great day! Snack and pizza lunch are provided by Wakeman followed by an afternoon field trip.
November 5th field trip: Urban Air
November 11th field trip: Nutmeg Bowl
Full Day: 8:30am-5:30pm. Structured activities begin at 9:00am.
Morning Only: 8:30-12:30 including pizza lunch
Afternoon Only: 12:30pm-5:30pm. Arrival between 12:00pm and 12:30pm
