Post Road Reopens After Vehicle Fire in Southport: Police

FAIRFIELD, CT — A vehicle fire closed a main thoroughfare mid-day Tuesday in Southport, according to police.

"Post Road is closed in both directions in the area of Pease Ave due to a vehicle on fire," Fairfield police said in a Facebook post just before noon. "Please avoid the area if possible."

Drivers were told to expect delays, according to police. The road had reopened as of about 12:30 p.m., police said in a tweet.
