Victoria's Secret Permanently Closes In Downtown Fairfield
The retailer at Fairfield Center will not reopen after it closed temporarily earlier this year at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Victoria’s Secret store in downtown Fairfield has permanently closed.
The lingerie retailer's location at 1499 Post Road will not reopen after it closed its doors temporarily earlier this year during the height of the coronavirus pandemic in Connecticut, according to Fairfield Community & Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart.
L Brands, the parent company of Victoria’s Secret, has been having financial difficulties, Barnhart said. Victoria’s Secret announced in May it would permanently close about 250 stores, USA Today reported at the time. L Brands, which also owns Bath & Body Works, planned to close 50 of those stores as well.

The Victoria’s Secret communications team did not immediately respond Wednesday to an email seeking additional information.
The Fairfield store was a tenant in the Fairfield Center building, which is home to the Fairfield University Bookstore and several other retailers. The building is overseen by Kleban Properties and Regency Centers.

“They are looking for a new tenant,” Barnhart said. “… Despite the pandemic and its impact on retail, in particular … there are new businesses opening in town, and so hopefully we’ll find another great tenant.”
Barnhart said he was confident property ownership and the broker working to fill the space would leave “no stone unturned” to find the right fit.
“It’s a terrific location in the heart of downtown,” he said. “… We’re open to a lot of different possibilities.”
