'The Voice' Winner To Perform At Fairfield Fundraiser

FAIRFIELD, CT — Stratford native and winner of "The Voice" Javier Colon will perform next week in Fairfield.

Colon will join Band Central live at Team Woofgang & Co.’s Party with a Purpose fundraiser July 8 at Penfield Pavilion, according to a news release.

While already a local favorite, Colon rose to international stardom as the first winner of "The Voice," during which he was mentored by coach and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine. In the show, contestants compete for a $100,000 grand prize and recording contract.

“I am beyond thrilled to have my close, extremely talented friend be a part of our event," Christine Brown, Team Woofgang board member and event chair, said in the news release. "His generosity and willingness to help out Team Woofgang & Co. are greatly appreciated and will surely be of inspiration to all who attend.”

The theme of the fundraiser is South Beach Soiree, and the celebration kicks off at 6:30 p.m., with music, dancing, cocktails and food catered by Festivities. There will be a silent auction featuring special outings. Executive Director Amiee Turner will welcome guests, and board member Ed Stern and Team Woofgang supporter Terry Clancy will act as emcees for the evening.

Team Woofgang & Co. is a nonprofit focused on empowering adults with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities. Team Woofgang’s curriculum offers training tailored to the unique special abilities of each team member. Through production, packaging, marketing and selling of high-quality pet treats and novelty items, Team Woofgang provides vocational skills training and lifelong learning opportunities.
