Channahon Man Captured By Joliet Police After 2 High-Speed Chases
Giacomo drove around marked police squads with lights activated after nearly striking a Joliet Police Officer in the road, authorities say.

JOLIET, IL — A 23-year-old Channahon resident is no longer in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say an intoxicated Reno Giacomo drove around several parked Joliet Police cars blocking traffic following a crash on Essington Road. Giacomo nearly struck one of the officers as he led Joliet police on two separate high-speed pursuits early Friday morning, authorities said.
Giacomo, who lives on South Kimberly Lane, was booked into the county jail just before 6 a.m. Joliet police charged him with aggravated DUI, aggravated fleeing and eluding a peace officer, aggravated assault, obstructing a peace officer and multiple traffic violations.
Giacomo was driving along the 1700 block of Essington Road around 1:45 a.m. on Friday and Joliet police were in the area blocking traffic because of a crash.

"Officers observed a vehicle being driven by a shirtless male, later identified as Giacomo, northbound on Essington Road approaching the scene of a prior traffic collision," police reports show.
The Channahon motorist chose to drive around the squad cars that had their lights activated and he almost ran over a Joliet officer in the road, police reports show.

"Officers observed that it appeared that Giacomo appeared to be intoxicated," police reports state. "Officers ordered the Giacomo out of the car at which time he smiled at the officers and fled in the vehicle from the scene at a high rate of speed."
Joliet police say they called off the high-speed chase as Giacomo drove west along Caton Farm Road for safety reasons.
Several minutes later, Joliet officers spotted Giacomo spotted near Caton Farm and Arbeiter Roads.
This time, Giacomo nearly struck another marked Joliet Police squad as he proceeded southbound along Ridge Road from Caton Farm Road in the northbound lane, reports show.
"Officers lost sight of Giacomo’s vehicle for a short period of time, but then located Giacomo and his vehicle crashed in a ditch near Jones Road and Arbeiter Road. Giacomo was then taken into custody without incident and transported to the Joliet Police Department," reports show.
By Friday night, Giacomo had posted 10 percent of his $50,000 bail to secure his release from the Will County Jail.
