Shooting At Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park: 2 Arrested In Minooka
Joliet shooting victim Fernando Vazquez Jr. was treated for his injuries and was later booked into the Grundy County Jail on felony charges.

MINOOKA, IL ? A child custody exchange on Sunday at the Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park in Minooka resulted in the non-fatal shooting of a Joliet man, Fernando Vazquez, authorities in Grundy County announced.
After being treated for his injuries, Vazquez is now in the Grundy County Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated battery using a gun and possession of a gun without a valid FOID. Jonathan Mahoney, 25, of Minooka, shot him, and he's being charged with aggravated battery using a gun, Grundy County Sheriff's officials said.

Mahoney lives at 20 Aspen Street, and he told deputies that Vazquez confronted him at his trailer, along with the mother of his child, for a child visitation exchange around 10 a.m.
According to officials, Vazquez began making threats toward Mahoney related to a previous phone conversation Mahoney had with the child's mother. Mahoney retrieved his gun and told Vazquez to leave.

Mahoney told detectives he put the gun inside his vehicle, and as their conversations continues, Vazquez pulled out a gun from his own waistband and pointed it at Mahoney.
Mahoney told authorities he rushed Vazquez to remove the gun from him and during the altercation, Mahoney removed the Joliet man's gun, and shot Vazquez once underneath his arm.
Grundy County Sheriff's officials said the shooting remains under investigation at this time.
